Biography
Early life
Rae is the youngest child, and only daughter, of Bruno and Jenny (Haydel) Bordelon. Her parents owned a restaurant that went out of business when Rae was a teenager, so they were not around much throughout her childhood. She was primarily raised by her two older brothers, Randy and Richy.
Rae was a good student in school, but always wanted to be somewhere else. Because her parents' restaurant was always struggling, the family never took any vacations, and since all of their families were still living in St. Charles Parish, the family never had a need to leave. By the time she was ten, she was working in her parents' restaurant during the summers. Rae had little time for friends.
When she was twelve, her brother Richy began sexually abusing her. This continued for three years, until their brother Randy learned about the abuse and severely beat Richy. Their parents never learned about the abuse. The restaurant was failing by that time, and their parents were even less aware of their children's needs than they normally were.
In 1995, her parents shut down the restaurant and filed for bankruptcy.
Professional life
Throughout high school, after her parents' restaurant failed, Rae worked as a cashier at the Burger King in Boutte. Most of the money she earned went to the family.
After getting pregnant and marrying Michael Kinnord in 2004, Rae quit working and stayed at home for five years with her daughter Sandy. During that time, she took up sewing and knitting to save money and to keep herself occupied.
In 2009, after she and Michael divorced, Rae took a job as a waitress at the Waffle House in Raceland, where she stayed until 2014, when a friend helped her get a job as a mail carrier for the Dutchtown Post Office.
During the lockdown, she began selling custom masks on Etsy to support her income.
Relationships
Michael Kinnord
Rae began dating Michael Kinnord in 2002. Michael, who graduated the year before Rae, worked as a Border Patrol Agent in New Orleans. Within a year, Rae was pregnant, and a month before the baby was born, Rae and Michael were married. Michael, who was extremely jealous, insisted that Rae quit working and stay at home with Sandy, believing it would be easier for him to keep tabs on Rae that way. However, throughout the next five years, both Michael and Rae had multiple affairs. In 2009, they divorced and Rae was given full custody of Sandy, and Michael moved to Lake Charles for a promotion.
Bisexuality
Rae stayed single for several years after the divorce, dating only on occasion. While still married to Michael, Rae had had a brief affair with the woman who used to tend bar for her parents, and after her divorce, Rae would sometimes drive to New Orleans to pick up women at French Quarter hotels.
Joey Michel
In 2017, Rae met Joey Michel, a maintenance worker at one of the nearby chemical factories. Joey suffered from Social Communication Disorder, which made speaking with people difficult for him and making any sort of relationship almost impossible. Despite that, Joey made efforts to speak with Rae and Rae appreciated those efforts. They dated for two and a half years before, during which Rae often broke things off out of frustration but always too Joey back shortly afterward. Shortly before Valentine's Day 2020, Rae again ended the relationship because Joey was getting increasingly violent with her. After Joey lost his job that April as a result of the lockdown, Rae allowed him to move back in with her and Sandy, since he could not find a job or a new place to live. On June 1, Cash sent Rae evidence that Joey was watching porn featuring teenaged girls, and Rae promptly kicked Joey out again.
Cash Aldrick
Rae met Cash the day he moved into his house on the bayou. She saw him moving boxes by himself while she was delivering the mail and, after work, took a welcome basket to him. She felt an immediate attraction to him, even though she had recently started dating Joey. She found in Cash everything she didn't get from Joey, but Cash didn't seem to adore her the way Joey did. She would often get Cash to go out with her when Joey wouldn't.
After thinking she had finally ended things with Joey in February 2020, Rae asked Cash to spend Valentine's Day with her. She took him to a local bar where they danced and drank too much. They spent the night together at Cash's house. For the next few weeks, Cash clearly avoided contact with Rae, but after running into him at the grocery store the day before the Governor's stay-at-home order was to go into effect, they had sex again at Rae's house. Again, Cash disappeared and cut off contact with her. She didn't hear anything directly from him until June 1, when he sent her the data about Joey's porn viewing.

Plot Synopsis
Get It All Back
Rae visits with Cash on his porch a few days after Joey attacks him. She has missed his company over the past few months during the lockdown. Even with Joey living in her house during the lockdown, she has felt increasingly lonely, in part because she and Sandy have butted heads so often. Although the conversation starts out calmly enough, it quickly turns sour as Rae challenges Cash with the fact that he keeps doing things to suggest that he wants to be in a relationship with her but then always pulls back. Cash, overwhelmed by the past thanks to Greer's request, sees the connections between his actions with Greer and his behavior toward Rae.
Rae returns two days later to ask Cash to help her with the custoday suit filed by her ex-husband Michael. Cash agrees to help for free, even though he doesn't know what he can actually do to help her. Cash again angers Rae by suggesting that her relationship with Sandy might benefit from some distance. Rae makes it clear that she fears being left alone.
After learning about Joey's death and that Cash has been taken into custody, Rae confronts him at his house, although she is not certain what has her so upset. Joey's death surprises her by making her feel that she has failed him by kicking him out again. She also worries that she has bogged down Cash by getting him involved in these problems. When she tries to slap Cash, it is more out of frustration with his rejection of her than anything else.
Two days later, Rae and Sandy have a fight that starts about Sandy not cleaning her room and turns into something much bigger. Sandy leaves the house, turning off the tracking on her phone. By late afternoon, Rae starts to panic given what happened to Joey and asks Cash to help find her. When Cash returns to her house with Sandy, they discuss their relationship and Cash's involvement with Hélène.
