== Character Synopsis ==
M3747r0n has been keeping an eye on Darius for years and finds the mission he accepts from [[Creedence]] intriguing. He watches from his satellite as Darius tracks down Hassan easily enough, but the revelation of the tablet concerns him, along with the state in which Darius finds Hassan. When Darius scans and uploads the tablet, M3747r0n and the other Low Gods can see the virus spreading across the global network. A caucus is called and the Low Gods discuss the situation. M3747r0n recognizes the threat of the tablet more than the other Low Gods. The caucus decides that further study is necessary and that the tablet must be kept out of the hands of the corporations. M3747r0n's fear that the virus could be used to wipe out the Low Gods is seen as extreme by most of the others; however, he makes enough of a case to convince them that it is a possibility. M3747r0n is given a committee charged with procuring the tablet and any copies that have been made.
When Darius and Jael are in the air, M3747r0n contacts Darius. It is the first time they have spoken since M3747r0n rooted Darius's Spryt. M3747r0n tells Darius that he must not give the tablet to any corporation and that he is working on a way for Darius to deliver the artifact to the Low Gods. Darius wonders what a group of disembodied minds can do with a stone tablet. M3747r0n does not want to threaten his friend, but become quickly frustrated with Darius's refusal to listen. Darius asks what M3747r0n knows of the tablet; Me747r0n explains that his team is working on a theory to explain its existence. Throughout the conversation, Darius is trying to explain to Jael who M3747r0n is. M3747r0n questions Darius's decision to collaborate with Jael. Eventually, M3747r0n threatens Darius even though the threat is largely meaningless since the Low Gods are unable to physically attack the ship. As Darius is questioning his friend's threat, the ship is damaged by a rocket. M3747r0n, as surprised as Darius and Jael, cuts of the communication.
Within the Low Gods, the discussion continues about the tablet and the virus. The Low Gods are incapable of understanding how the virus works because they no longer understand how language actually works. They are simply able to mimic human communication when then have to engage at that level. M3747r0n's team continues to hypothesize how the tablet came into existence. They verify that it was created around 2500 BCE, and even though they don't understand how the virus works, they recognize that it has been encoded in the text carved into the tablet. They theorize that it must be of alien origin and, working backwards, attempt to imagine why an alien civilization would come to earth only to plant a trap that would take almost 4,000 years to activate. In the meantime, M3747r0n begins communicating with Darius at night when others are asleep. He swears that the Low Gods did not attack the ship, explaining that their connection to humanity is not overt. They have no physical presence within the [[Provinces]] or the corporations. They do their work by manipulating minor details, using an artificial chaos model. Ideally, their actions are not even recognized by the rest of humanity. M3747r0n also explains that Creedence is moving to consolidate power, despite numerous corporate treaties. Darius explains what he has learned about the tablet and attempts to explain it to M3747r0n. Darius also tries to explain why he trusts Jael even though M3747r0n does not.
When Darius and Jael set out with the caravan of the Unseen, Darius turns off his Spryt to prevent M3747r0n from pestering him. M3747r0n is able to track them regardless and accesses the security systems for the corporations that have been battling for the tablet. He learns that Creedence has consolidated his power and taken over TS Group and Ball Tech. In learning of Creedence's plans for Darius and the tablet, Me747r0n figures out that the tablet itself does not offer the answer to the virus, but that Darius does. When Jael reboots her now-rooted Spryt, M3747r0n appears to her and tells what he has learned. He explains that she will need to quickly learn the new powers her rooted Spryt offer her and that she must save Darius at all costs. As Jael tracks down Darius, M3747r0n provides her with updates about [[Magnus]] and [[Zara]], knowing that they are friends of hers, who have managed to escape in the chaos. M3747r0n is surprised at how quickly Jael adapts to the new technology. She is able to carry on a conversation with him even as she fights with soldiers. Jael asks M3t47r0n what is so special about Darius. M3747r0n responds that he is one of the few remaining humans who believe they can save the world.
Once Jael and Darius are safely away, M3747r0n learns that some of the Low Gods believe he has violated their rules about direct interference. This rift has always existed within the Low God, a rift between the Separatists and the Reformists, but the Battle over Budapest has severely increased the divide. M3747r0n begins conspiring more with the Separatists, whom he has always questioned. Once they have arrived in Greenland, M3747r0n and Darius continue their discussions about the virus, focusing more so now on why some people are affected while others are not. Darius continues to wonder why the Low Gods are not affected. M3747r0n explains that they no longer actually understand language -- they can simply mimic it when they need to -- but that the great concern is that someone will find a way to adapt the virus to wipe out the Low Gods.M3747r0n reveals to Darius and Jael one night the extent of Low God manipulation of humanity. They have been hindering the creation of Artificial Super Intelligence for decades, manipulating the markets and the research to undermine any progress. After Jael recovers to find they have landed back at Lake Elton, M3747r0n tells her Kiyaara has seized control of ElCorp and is continuing Creedence's efforts to subsume some of the weaker corporations. M3747r0n expresses concern about Darius's obsession with figuring out the puzzle of the virus -- for the first time in his life he is ignoring his own safety. M3747r0n also uses the time to teach Jael some of the things she can do with root access to her Spryt and thus root access to her body. When Kiyaara arrives with a platoon of android soldiers, something the Low Gods had long feared humans would create, Me747r0n tells Darius to hide. On the shore, Kiyaara and Jael fight while M3747r0n and other Low Gods deal with the androids by possessing them. After the battle, with Kiyaara dead and Jael unconscious and a field of android bodies destroyed, Me747r0n and Darius discuss the destruction they have wrought. Darius explains that he now understands how the virus works but that the cure will require significant efforts, efforts that he believed a corporation like ElCorp would have been able to manage. When Darius shares with M3747r0n his feelings of helplessness in his human body, M3747r0n gives him a set of coordinates and tells him to travel there with Jael, so they will be safe while she recovers, but they must travel there without the use of any technology.
After Darius and Jael arrive at his secret bunker, M3747r0n explains to them the more religious elements of the Low Gods, in particular the Rules of 11, which allows, in part, for only 121 Low Gods to exist. M3747r0n tells them he was one of the original Low Gods, having been the member of a hacker collective that figured out how to use the newly available Spryt technology in the 2080s, to transfer their consciousnesses to a network of satellites. M3747r0n tells Jael that he and Darius have arrived at the same logical conclusion: that a cure for the virus can only be created by Darius adding his consciousness to the collective of the Low Gods. After M3747r0n's acolyte disconnects his body from the life-support system and begins connecting Darius in his place, Jael cradles M3747r0n's body as he talks weakly about what it feels like to be a frail human who can once again sense the world.

M3747r0n was born as Mario Jones in Chicago in 2050, the year Hurricane Omega destroyed the Caribbean islands along with the Gulf Coast states of Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. Mario's mother, Estela, who was originally from Cuba, was devastated by the loss of family and homeland.
As a young boy, Mario witnessed the mass migrations into what would become the 66 Provinces. Mario was always naturally gifted with technology and used it as a means of hiding from the horrors of the world around him. When he was twelve, he was recruited into a group of hackers called Los Diablillos. A year later, he ran away from home and relocated to Mexico City to live with other members of the group. There he met and fell in love with another teenaged member of the group, Julian Wainwright. Together they agreed to take angelic hacker names. Julian chose 1uc!ph3r; Mario chose M3747r0n.
When he was sixteen, the first generation of Spryts were made available to people living within the boundaries of Mexico City, Bogota, Brasilia, Sao Paulo, and Buenos Aires as a test of the system and to encourage migration into those cities. Mario was eager to try the new technology and quickly figured out how to root the system. He named his Spryt Jester, after his mother's favorite tarot card, the Fool, which often represents new beginnings. Julian and a number of the other Diablillos followed suit and began using their rooted Spryts to greatly enhance their hacking abilities. In 2069, led by Julian and Mario, Los Diablillos committed the single largest financial hack in history, stealing over two quadrillion dollars, by siphoning off 1% of the wealth of every person in the top 1% of global wealth. The [[One-Percent Hack]], is it came to be known, significantly disrupted the global system. The corporations used the theft as an excuse to fully subsume governmental control of the growing provinces, establishing within each a corpocracy ruled by the corporation with the greatest market share within that province. The hack also allowed the corporations to push through a global economic transfer to cryptocurrency.

Within a few years of the One-Percent Hack, spurred on by the anarcho-utopian ideals of Mario and Julian, two other members of Los Diablillos, known as M4nju5hr! and Ur!31, and figured out how to reverse engineer the Spryt technology to use it as a means of connecting an individual's consciousness into a network. After numerous tests, Mario became the first member to temporarily transcend into the global network. Following this success, eleven life support systems were built, and on Sunday, January 27, 2075, at exactly 3:57:56 PM GMT (Unix Epoch Time 3315830276)<!-- This dual property (perfect square and divisible by 11-squared) is mathematically distinctive, as it implies the number is a square of a multiple of 11 (57,574 = 11 × 5,234). -->, the First Eleven uploaded their consciousnesses into the global network. Mario had a very intense personality. When he was a child, this allowed him to fixate on numbers and symbols. When he was a teenager, this allowed him to fixate on his coding. Solving the problems -- finding patterns -- were often all that mattered to him. When he became involved with Julian, this intensity translated into a toxic relationship, one built on competition.
As a Low God, this intensity seems to have tempered into the cool logical workings of a human machine. But underlying the logic is that overwhelming need to figure out every puzzle. This leads to a rather strange fascination with Darius, who has a similar intensity.

Mario transcended and became M3747r0n before most consumer-grade enhancements were commonplace. Before his transcendence, he was particularly interested in wearable biotech. After his first significant financial hack, he bought himself a pair of HUD contacts.

In 2066, when he was sixteen, Mario had the UnCorp Spryt Model Alfa installed. He named it Jester in memory of his mother's love of tarot cards, especially the Fool. Mario was often frustrated by the limitations of the Spryt and very quickly figured out how to root it. Since he had no other bodily augmentations, this primarily allowed him to violate privacy restrictions that he been built into the Spryt. Eventually, it allowed him, along with several other members of Los Diablillos who had also rooted their Spryts, to commit bigger and more complex hacks.

Augmentations
Mario transcended and became M3747r0n before most consumer-grade enhancements were commonplace. Before his transcendence, he was particularly interested in wearable biotech. After his first significant financial hack, he bought himself a pair of HUD contacts.
Level 0: Baseline Integrations (Universal)
In 2066, when he was sixteen, Mario had the UnCorp Spryt Model Alfa installed. He named it Jester in memory of his mother's love of tarot cards, especially the Fool. Mario was often frustrated by the limitations of the Spryt and very quickly figured out how to root it. Since he had no other bodily augmentations, this primarily allowed him to violate privacy restrictions that he been built into the Spryt. Eventually, it allowed him, along with several other members of Los Diablillos who had also rooted their Spryts, to commit bigger and more complex hacks.
